Hi,

Can you name any more bands similar to Asturcon and from Asturias? I've spent a lot of time looking but most reviews just say Spain.

Cheers
Carl

Hi there, well, Asturcón were pretty unique, but Goma 2 (http://spanishprogressiverock.blogspot.com/2009/12/repost-goma-2-sin-nombre-untitled-flac.html), from Galicia (just beside Asturias) should appeal you. They had a piper in the line-up, and some very new-waveish influences. Lyrics in galician portuguese, which sounds kinda similar to asturian (the dialect spoken in Asturias that Asturcón sang in).

Also:

- Trasgu (http://spanishprogressiverock.blogspot.com/2009/11/trasgu-la-isla-de-helice.html) are also worth checking out, I think. Not that poppy or new wave influenced, but still in that vein.

- Celtas Cortos' first (http://spanishprogressiverock.blogspot.com/2008/12/celtas-cortos-salida-de-emergencia.html) is an all instrumental, celtic rock effort with contemporary influences.

- If you're into 70's electric (not acoustic) folk-oriented sympho prog, Ibio's first (http://spanishprogressiverock.blogspot.com/2009/01/repost-ibio-cuevas-de-altamira-reedicin.html) is pure bliss, in my opinion.

I have more suggestions, but the list would be endless. Those should do it for you, though.

Cheers.
