REPOST: Evolution - (Sin nombre) (reedición remasterizada con temas extra) / (Untitled) (remastered re-release w/bonus tracks) (FLAC + MP3 320 kbps)

Año de publicación: 1970

Subgénero: Proto prog, soul, psicodelia, pop. Clásico.

Comentarios:

Comments:

This album has already been posted before, but it was at 160 kbps rip. This time, a lossless rip (in FLAC format) as well as a 320 kbps rip have been uploaded.

Evolution was a one shot german-hispanic band (four germans and a spaniard) that worked in Spain. They existed in an embrionic shape between 1965 and 1969 as The Vampires, releasing three singles and two EP's during this phase. Even though they formed in Germany in 1965, they moved to Spain the next year, where they signed with local label Sesión. In 1969 they changed their narme to Evolution, and shifted from a song oriented R'n'B to a more hard rock-organ driven proto prog sound.

The booklet featured in this reissue in exquisite, and includes an in depth biography of the band, as well as large interviews (in english!) with two of its ex-members. The two non-LP singles the band released in 1971 (a very edited cover of King Crimson's "In The Court Of The Crimson King" w/"Problems") and 1972 ("I Must Live" w/"Pain And Pleasure"), which complete the band's discography, are included as bonus tracks; please note that the tracks 10 and 11 listed in the back cover are actually tracks 12 and 13, and viceversa. It is a misprint.

Regarding the LP, the band's idea was to make a hard rock album with lots of organ; Tony Ponce -guitar- said it was mixed while the band was on tour, and when they returned, they were horrified at Rudy Ventura's wind section (in the late sixties and early seventies, soul music was very fashionable in Spain; for instance, Los Canarios and Los Bravos topped the charts back then).

After the recording of this album, the band went back to the studio, but nothing came out of it. Neither Tony Ponce nor Det Ferring (the other band member interviewed for this reissue) remember if they recorded enough songs for a full album or if they were even mixed, or where those sketches are now.

Different incarnations of Evolution followed after this LP, but it seems none of them left any official or unofficial recordings. The band members went on with other projects, and Tony Ponce played guitar in
Miguel Ríos's sympho-prog conceptual classic "La Huerta Atómica". Both him and Det Ferring ran a restaurant in Sitges (Catalonia, Spain), but then parted ways and, at the time of this reissue (2003), both have a restaurant of each own.

Back to the LP, it consists in five originals and five totally kickass covers: Spirit's "Fresh Garbage", King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man",
The Temptations' "Get Ready" and Santana's "Evil Ways" (sticked together, medley-like, in a single track) and Wille Cobbs' "You Don't Love Me Baby" (aka You Don't Love Me).

The picture above is the actual scan of the CD packaging; it is a replica of the first press of the LP on the Ekipo-Dimensión label (home of spanish proto prog legends Cerebrum and Pan & Regaliz).
