Carlos Guirao - Bajo Una Tormenta

Año de publicación: 2009

Subgénero: Electrónica/espacial/sintetista. Instrumental.

ENGLISH:

Year of release: 2009

Sub-genre: Electronic/spacey/synthetist. Instrumental. More modern and accessible than the rest of his output.

Comments:
Carlos Guirao is an ex-member and co-founder of the electronic duo Neuronium. In 1982 he left the project, leaving it on the hands of the other half of the duo, Michel Huygen. That same year, Guirao releases Revelation, his only solo album until 2008. It sounds a lot like anything Neuronium were doing up to that point. The album has never been released on CD.

In the mid 80's,
Guirao gives shape to Programa, another duo that released two albums (being the first available here). Little is known about his recording activities since then; however, in July 2008 a visitor let me know of his return to activity with the album Pesadillas De Un Ser Viviente (which Guirao did not give any promotion to, and distributed through internet for free). For what I could read on internet back then, Guirao was suffering of some kind of disease and was under chemotherapy treatment. Shortly after that, I found a very interesting thread (in spanish) of which the own Carlos takes part of, and unfortunately the rumours are true. Luckily, he's getting better.

During his convalescence,
Guirao worked on his third solo album (released just one year after Pesadillas De Un Ser Viviente), and its title is an allusion to the conditions under which he had to make it ("Bajo Una Tormenta" means "Under A Storm"). In spite of this, the sound of this album differs from its predecessors (more info in the sub-genre field).

Thanks to
Carlos Guirao for bringing his music unselfishly, and to Mindchild for fetching me the record and the scan.

UPDATE: It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Carlos Guirao finally lost his battle with cancer last January 17th. Rest in peace, wherever you are.

Hola EzequieL,

I've downloaded this twice and it includes Parts 1 - 7 and Parts 10 - 12. Any idea what happened to parts 8 and 9?

Muchas gracias

Sorry to bother you again, but...

Part 10 is really Part 2.

The correct order is 1, 10, 11, 12, 2, 3... You can hear this if you play them in the numbered order, which chops up the music, or in the correct order, where the music flows from one track into the next.

Just thought people would want to know.

Thanks again for sharing this new work by Carlos Guirao.

Hi, I'm gonna check it now. Cheers.

Damn, you're right. It's missing 2 tracks. I can't believe nobody noticed this before! Well I'll delete the links and reupload the album later. Sorry for the inconveniences.

No problem, EzequieL. I would never have heard any of this without your efforts. I really appreciate what you are doing here.
